What changes by area
Where You Live Does Change the Job
Not the charger, and not the standard it is installed to. What changes is the supply you already have and how far the cable has to travel, and those two things set the price.
Older beachside suburbs
Southport, Labrador, Miami, Palm Beach, Coolangatta
Single phase supply and an older switchboard are common, and the board is often at the front of the house while the car parks at the back. That is a longer run and frequently a board upgrade, so it is worth having both looked at together.
Apartments and townhouses
Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Main Beach, Southport
The electrical work is usually the straightforward part. Getting agreement from the body corporate on where the charger draws its power from, and who pays for it, is the part that takes time, so start it early.
Newer northern estates
Coomera, Upper Coomera, Pimpama, Ormeau
Three phase supply is far more common here, which puts 11kW and 22kW on the table. Garages are also newer, so the board is often already close to where the car sits and the run is short.
Canal and waterfront homes
Hope Island, Mermaid Waters, Broadbeach Waters, Paradise Point
Larger homes running more, so spare capacity on the board matters more than the charger does. These are the jobs where load management earns its keep, because it lets the charger use whatever the house is not drawing at the time.
Acreage and the hinterland
Mudgeeraba, Bonogin, Tallai, Worongary
The car often charges at a shed some distance from the house, and that distance is the job. It is worth measuring that run before you settle on a charger, because the cable can cost more than the unit.
Outside the coast
How Far We Travel
The Gold Coast is where we work every day, and we go north into Logan and Brisbane regularly.
If you are further out than that, ring and ask. Depending on what the job is and what else we have on in that direction, the answer is often yes.
Common questions
Service Area Questions
The Gold Coast is our normal working area and we quote jobs across it.
If you are outside the areas listed above, ring and ask. We will tell you plainly whether it is something we can get to.
Not because of the suburb itself, but because of what is typical there. Older suburbs closer to the beach tend to be single phase with the board a long way from the parking, and both of those add to the job.
Newer estates in the north are more often three phase with the board already near the garage, which usually makes for a shorter run.
Yes, and we do a lot of it through the central coast. The electrical side is usually straightforward.
The part that takes the time is agreeing with the body corporate where the charger draws its power from and how it is metered. Start that conversation before you buy a unit.
We go north into Logan and Brisbane regularly.
Further than that depends on the job. Ask us and we will give you a straight answer.
